I’m looking for a boarding school for middle school aged girls in California. Please don’t say anything like New Leaf Academy because I’m not looking for something for troubled or bad girls.

FYI not everyone will be posh…bullying will almost always take place…ANYWHERE and do you really want to go to all girls school…where’s the fun in that?! Sounds like a nightmare….ALL POSH GIRLS WHO BULLY EACH OTHER..YIKES

When you say “New York” do you mean New York City or New York State.
If you are talking about the City, there are no boarding schools here in New York City. Kids in NYC who want to go to boarding school go out of town to do so.

I need to know of a school that is affordable for a low income family dealing with a troubled teen. We are located in California and the teen is 14 years old female. A lot of the schools require $ 4.000 a month and we cannot afford that. Are there any cheaper alternatives?

if insurance or child wlefare or teh school district won’t pay for it-you are out of luck-
if there are problems in school-ask fro a special ed eval-with a foucs on locating a residential palcement
also call child services–all states have programs for mentally ill children that might include residnetail placemnt

I would look into Culver Academy in Indiana. It is a well respected place. It is in a town that has a very nice lake. And the school is on the lake.

I’ve searched tirelessly for a good boarding school thats not rediculously expensive, my parents can’t just dish out $ 47,000 for me to go to high school. I’m looking for a boarding shool that’s just about anywhere in Europe and is less than $ 7000 USD a year. Any ideas?

No boarding school costs that little BUT you may be able to get a scholarship. next year I am going to boarding school on a full ($ 38,000) scholarship as a freshman.

Just be aware that many of these ‘boot camp’ or ‘tough love’ facilities are often unregulated by the government and unsupervised. Children have actually died in many of these schools. They’re not even difinitively proven to work. Many of the kids go right back to thier delinquent behavior once they return home. Some even get worse.
If you really want to help your brother, take him on a tour of the local homeless selters prisons and morgues. If that doesn’t work, get him a therapist. Its much cheaper and more likely to work than a boot camp.

I am doing a summer project on the prominence of drugs in elite boarding schools. (Not the therapeutic rehab schools, the prep schools.) My friend recently mentioned that as a result of the intense pressure and competition, hard drugs are generally used more in these kinds of schools than in public ones. What is your opinion?

They smoke a lot of crack and meth too. they burn trash barrels full and drag the barrels into the furnace room and hook them directly into the duct system so everybody’s room gets smoked up enough so they can think as clear as our present day political leaders.
