Christian boarding schools
Christian boarding schools get a bad rap sometimes. You’ve seen the movies, mostly comedies, where high spirited teenagers attempt to outsmart the strict nuns and priests.
Christian boarding schools are not just Catholic schools. They include a number of faiths, Jewish, Episcopal, Quakers, and even non denominational. Some are even coed. Is everyone who goes there a goody two shoes? Of course not.
These school have the normal academic offerings and spiritual guidance. Some schools cater to troubled teens exclusively, but most are for kids just like you and your friends.
Their primary goal is to give the student a great education. While classes in religion are a part of the curriculum, the focus is also on family relations and getting along in a very challenging world.
Teens today face many more social challenges than in years past. Drugs, alcohol, and sex are much more common in even young teens. Peer pressure makes it hard to “just say no.” Removal from bad influences greatly improves the chance for a student to be their own person and stay on track.
Religious schools, like reform school used to be punishment. Today’s school is modern, well equipped, and staffed with teachers with advanced degrees. Studies are important, but there is time for fun with extracurricular activities.
Students who attend these school learn to be good citizens, good family members, and true to their religious beliefs.
